The Board of Trustees
Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi-O-Ngāpuhi is governed by a board of 10 trustees, elected triennially by adult tribal members registered with the Rūnanga.
The trustees are elected to the board from the eight Takiwā and two Taurahere.`
Trustees also vote in the board chair. The chair is Rāniera Tau.
The board’s role includes:
- Pursuing the vision: Kia tu tika ai te whare tapu o Ngāpuhi
- Exercising its powers in the spirit of consultation with, and empowerment of, the whānau, hapū and marae of Ngāpuhi
- The development and promotion of Ngāpuhi tīkanga and spiritual values throughout the operations of the Rūnanga
For more information see the Trust Deed 2009.
Board members and Rūnanga staff work hard in seeking the moemoea (dreams) and aspirations of Ngāpuhi members to develop a pathway forward, and to check that what has been achieved to date aligns with these moemoeā.
